A message from Rolf Weber, our Managing Director

August 6, 2020

Following the recent news of Victoria being moved into Stage 4 restrictions, we wanted to reach out to Dinnerly customers to share an update.

We’d like to provide an update on how we are operating following the developments in Victoria, where one of our Fulfilment and Distribution Centres is based.

All of us are concerned for the health and well-being of our fellow Victorians, including our team members, and we have made it our mission to support our people and our customers as much as we can in the past few months and, of course, going forward. We do this by providing healthy and delicious meals with pre-portioned ingredients delivered right to the front door in a safe, reliable way. Further, since mid-March, we have ensured that all our facilities are safe work environments and we recently have been certified to be a COVID Safe workplace by the NSW Department of Primary Industries regarding our practices that include measures such as:

  • Mandatory use of personal protective gear for all team members, such as face masks, gloves, gowns and facial shields
  • Temperature checking and extensive health surveys for all staff upon entry to the facility
  • Staggered shift start times to avoid crowding at entrances and exits
  • Social distancing throughout the facility, including in production areas
  • Separation into smaller A/B teams with no interaction or sharing of facilities at the same time

Over the last few months, we have worked through many challenges and have been able to continue to provide our essential service across Australia.

Your response has been overwhelmingly positive and we thank you for the patience you have shown as we all adjusted to the new circumstances. The last couple of weeks in Victoria demonstrate that the challenges to keep us safe and healthy remain and that significant measures need to be taken.

While we can’t guarantee that tomorrow all will be fine, as of now, we are confident that Dinnerly will continue to deliver our customers’ orders with no or very limited impact over the next few weeks. To this end, we are constantly communicating with our suppliers who are as committed as we are to this cause.

We continue to take our responsibility and privilege to serve you seriously and all our team members are immensely committed to getting food into our customers homes, especially to the most vulnerable members in our community.

As I speak about members of the community, our team members – most of whom work in our facilities – are of course as exposed to the risk of infection as everyone else in the community is, be it by using public transport, living in shared houses or just going about daily life. As a result, we have been informed that 4 of our team members in Victoria were positively diagnosed with COVID-19 yesterday. All of our team members who came in close contact with the affected individuals are in self-isolation.

We have and always will look after our team members and following the news of the infections within our workforce, we have proactively moved our customer order fulfilment to our Sydney facility for a couple of days. We are working closely with all affected by the production changes to provide financial assistance for lost shifts due to the required self-isolation.

Our customers will continue to receive their orders from our Sydney facility in the meantime. We only expect minor interruptions for a couple of days and will inform you proactively if that is the case.

In our Melbourne facility, we are focused on:

  • Extensive deep cleaning of the facility Getting our team members tested to ensure the ongoing safety of all our employees
  • Thorough contact tracing and cooperation with the various state authorities
  • Providing financial support to those team members who are affected by infections, loss of shifts or self-isolation requirements

I am immensely proud of what we have achieved so far, and humbled by our customers’ and employees’ feedback. We are looking forward to continuing to serve our community during these challenging times.

Warm regards,

Rolf Weber
